About

About this site, and the disclaimer that matters

A small, unfunded, unaffiliated notebook about Glasgow flower shops. Here is exactly what it is, what it is not, and who is responsible for what.

What this is

glasgowflorist.co.uk is a personal blog. It reviews thirty florists trading in Glasgow and scores them against ten measures. It is written in the first person because that is what it is: one person’s opinion, offered the way you would offer it to a friend who asked where to buy flowers.

Everything here is opinion, and none of it is the domain owner’s

This needs stating plainly, in more than one place, because it is the single most important thing on the site.

1. It is all subjective. Every ranking, score, verdict and aside is a personal opinion. None of it is a statement of fact about any business. Two people can look at the same florist and reach opposite conclusions, and both can be reasonable.

2. The opinions are not those of the owner of this domain. The site’s owner commissioned this collection but holds no view on any florist named here, endorses none of them, recommends none of them, and is not responsible for the judgements expressed. Do not read anything on this site as the owner’s opinion, because it is not.

3. Nobody paid. No florist has paid for inclusion, position, score or wording. No florist was contacted, shown a draft, or given a right of reply before publication. There are no affiliate links to any florist. The advertising slot at the top of each page is sold and filled by a third-party network with no knowledge of, or influence over, the editorial content beneath it.

4. It is desk research, not inspection. These write-ups are built from publicly available information. The shops’ own websites, published hours and service lists, business directories and public customer reviews. They are not the result of visits, test orders, audits or interviews, and they should not be read as if they were.

On accuracy

Details go out of date fast in independent retail. Opening hours change seasonally. Shops move, close, get sold, or quietly stop doing weddings. Several florists on this list have no website at all, so their published details come from directories that may themselves be years behind. Where I could not confirm something, the profile says so explicitly rather than guessing.

Always confirm hours, prices and availability with the florist directly before travelling or ordering. Do not rely on this site for that. It is a starting point for a decision, not a substitute for a phone call.

On the pictures

Every illustration on this site is original artwork, generated at build time by the site’s own code from a botanical motif and a colour assigned to each florist. They are decorative devices, not photographs: they do not depict any shop, shopfront, bouquet, product or person, and they should not be taken as a representation of any florist’s work.

No photographs have been reproduced anywhere on this site. No business’s images, logos or branding have been copied or hot-linked. The images are not clickable and lead nowhere. Each one carries a caption naming its source, which in every case is this site’s own illustration code.

Links to florists’ own websites, and to Google Maps and Apple Maps for directions, are provided for your convenience. They are not endorsements, they are not affiliate links, and no money changes hands when you use them. External sites are outside my control and outside my responsibility.

Corrections and right of reply

If you run one of these shops and something here is factually wrong. A moved address, a closed business, a service listed that you no longer offer, a phone number that rings nowhere, it will be corrected promptly and without argument. Factual errors are my mistake and I want them fixed.

Write to corrections@glasgowflorist.co.uk. Say which florist and what is wrong; you do not need to be polite about it. Corrections to matters of fact are made without conditions and without asking anything in return.

Opinions are a different matter. If you disagree with a score or a description, say so and I will publish a right of reply alongside the entry. What I will not do is quietly rewrite an honest opinion because a business would prefer a warmer one, since a review site that does that is worthless to the people it is supposed to serve.

On the advertising

There is one advertising slot, at the top of every page, filled by a third-party network. It pays for the domain. The network chooses what appears there; I do not, and I cannot vouch for any product or service advertised. Advertising has no bearing on which florists appear on this site, where they rank, or what is said about them.
