Florists without a shop
A studio florist has no window, no passing trade and no walk-in customers. Everything arrives through the website, and everything leaves in a van. That constraint sounds like a limitation and is really a discipline: with no counter to stock, a studio can run a deliberately narrow range of signature designs, buy for known orders rather than speculative footfall, and put its money into packaging and delivery instead of rent.
MUD Urban Flowers, founded in 2017, is the clearest example in Glasgow, named signature bouquets, published prices, a firm delivery cut-off, and presentation designed to be photographed on arrival.
What you give up
Two things, and they matter. You cannot look at the flowers before you buy them, so you are buying the studio's judgement rather than a specific bunch. And you are not supporting a shopfront on somebody's street, which is a real consideration in a city where a florist's window is often the best-looking thing on the block. For gifting at distance a studio is frequently the better answer. For a Tuesday armful, walk into a shop.
