Flower Fusion

The second florist on Duke Street, and not the second-best.

The verdict

A few hundred yards along Duke Street from Florresters sits Flower Fusion, and the fact that both survive on the same street is the most interesting thing about either of them. Dennistoun buys a lot of flowers. Flower Fusion takes the more conventional half of that market: dependable mixed bouquets, sympathy work, and a delivery operation that covers the East End thoroughly.

The offer is traditional Glasgow floristry executed at a fair price, and the shop is tied into the wider flower-delivery networks, which is how a lot of its out-of-town orders arrive. If you are ordering into Dennistoun from elsewhere and want something safe and certain rather than distinctive, this is the more predictable of the two Duke Street options. And predictability is sometimes exactly the specification.

Best for

Reliable delivered bouquets into the East End; funeral tributes in a traditional idiom.

What I would order

A classic mixed bouquet at the mid price point.

Worth knowing

Limited independent web presence; several national delivery aggregators list this address, so check you are ordering from the shop rather than through a middleman taking a cut.

Two florists, one street, both busy. Which tells you something about Dennistoun.

Who it is not for

Anyone chasing something distinctive. Predictability is the product, and that is a legitimate thing to want.

How it compares

If you would rather be surprised, Florresters is the other Duke Street option and takes a different view entirely.

Getting there

Duke Street, Dennistoun; close to Duke Street rail station.
