Here is a genuinely surprising thing about Glasgow floristry: Shettleston Road, a mile and a half of East End high street, sustains several independent flower shops at once. Pinks of Glasgow is one of them. That density is not driven by fashion; it is driven by a community that buys flowers for births, deaths, anniversaries and Sundays, consistently and in volume, and does so locally.
The proposition is straightforward: fair prices, generous bunches, and the sympathy work that a shop in this position handles constantly and therefore handles well. Design ambition is modest. Practical competence is high. Anyone dismissing the East End flower trade because it is not on a listicle has misunderstood how most of this city actually buys flowers.
